The darkening months of the year are fertile for inward deepening and for generating a felt sense of belonging through the weaving of coziness together.

We are also in deeply stressful times as Earthlings, with human-generated global warming destablizing Earth’s climate at an amplifying pace. Gathering together in the midst of this darkening time, cocreating from the roots, feels meaningful, nourishing, and sustaining.

The Danes and Norwegians practice “hygge" (pronounced "hoo-gah") in the dark months of fall and winter. Perhaps you have heard of this art form? Hygge is an art for making coziness in the dark, gathering with simple, humble, tactile methods to support our senses coming alive. Through attention to subtlety in this way, hygge is a mindfulness art, evoking awareness of the living present moment and making suppleness there through sensory exploration and adaptations. Why Hygge for Generative Rebellious Embodiment? Hygge is about presence with what is and tending with creativity to nourish connection and wellbeing in the midst of the dark.

As a Dane, I invite you to this gathering ground, to cocreate hygge in these darkening times, through this 3 month adventure exploring Generative, Rebellious Embodiment. This will be a life-affirming and nuanced weaving of arts, soma, ecology, and spirit. Collaborative resonant sensory listening and play.

There is no prior experience required. Creative currents run through us all, as living beings of Earth. You are welcome.

A life-long visual and dance artist and playful improviser, Katrina has been leading groups consistently for almost 30 years. Come join this playful flow, listening to the hum of the murmuring deep.

Our creative scores will be rooted in improvisational movement, art therapy, somatic psychotherapy, ecological arts, theater improvisation, embodied music studies, experiential anatomy, expressive arts, relational ecology, and embodied social justice praxis.

  • "extraordinary clarity and solidarity"

“Katrina addds wonderful layers of spirituality and movement to the practice, she’s very poetic, eloquent, and has a crystal clear way of commiunicating the work. Extraordinary clarity and solidarity, very inspiring stance, holding the group and working space very respectfully, safely, and firmly”

Anonymous, a therapist, participant in a 6 month somatic training group 2023

  • “gentle guidance creating space for you to blossom in your own time and in your own way”

"Katrina's enthusiasm and joy for fostering community and healing through movement is a gift unto itself. She offers gentle guidance to your own unfurling, creating space for you to blossom in your own time and in your own way. Leading by example, she illuminates an approach towards dance that celebrates aliveness, interconnectedness, sacred stillness, and the wild wonderful reaches of the self."

Julie, artist, a participant in many of my somatic movement gatherings

  • "a warm environment for expression"

“My experience in Katrina's group was as life-changing as it was educational. Katrina created a warm and safe environment for expression. Katrina modeled an antioppressive, feminist, and client-led, poetic approach. I feel a deeper commitment to being myself—a self that loves language, expression, and curiosity, too.”

Anonymous, a therapist, participant in a year-long training cohort 2022-2023

  • “This is where ecology and social justice come together, with the knowledge that life is held in common. Whether we know it or not, we exist because we exchange, because we move the gift”. We call for a return to love, to offer to the world our inner gifts, seeking companions to share mutual regard and recognition - a communion of souls that will sustain and abide”
