Sensorimotor psychotherapy mentoring details and Booking

Learning Sensorimotor Psychotherapy takes practice

The more you practice with focused feedback, the more at ease and creative you will feel in your SP work.

As an Approved SP Consultant and a Certified Instructor of SP, I would be happy to accompany you in your learning process. I offer playful, attuned, focused, gentle, precise, spacious, warm and encouraging support to help clinicians grow their creativity in their Sensorimotor Psychotherapy practice. In consultation groups, I help spark and nurture a sense of solidarity and kinship in community with other SP colleagues.

My approach is rooted in the Hakomi/SP Principles, feminist pedagogy, reflective, transformative learning methods, and the wisdom of creative improvisation.

SP Mentorship offers an opportunity to workshop your skills and your wisdom, translate this method into your specific practice contexts, and support the development of your own creative voice as a clinician in SP.

Three variations of SP mentoring:

  • Experiential sessions help you deepen your learning in SP through being in the role of the client.

We focus our time on the aspects of SP that you wish to deepen your learning in. For example:

    • how to deepen somatic resources,

    • working with sequencing or RAD,

    • how to do experiments and what to do with what is evoked,

    • working with parts or with the child state of consciousness.

You might choose to focus your experiential sessions on particular skills, such as:

    • the art of framing and stitching to the frame,

    • deepening fluency and creativity with the steps to mindfulness,

    • understanding the purpose of the stages of the process and deepening your skill in navigating those stages.

    • how to recognize transformation and what to do with this emerging change

    • what to do when your client is in deep emotions

    • how to support your client when they are dissociating

    • how to be improvisational and attuned in the moment while also holding the high watch for the client’s process

    • working with your creativity in a particular stage, such as integration to take the transformation deeper and broader

Experiential sessions can also help you gather a felt sense of pacing, of language choices, of the breadth of possibilities for creative renditions of SP.

  • Experiential consultation focuses less on specific cases and more on your skills. This is a way to hone in on the specific areas in your practice where you wish to hone your abilities and deepen your creativity.

Experiential consultation may focus on skills practice, and may also explore areas of clinician confidence, fear, doubts, as well as where one’s own content is getting hooked and needs tending.

Sometimes we might explore themes for growth in your work that you are noticing showing up in a variety of client relationships, such as: unfreezing when the client is in deep emotion, how to improvise somatic resources that fit with your client’s learning style, comfort level, and personality, or how to be directive with Mindfulness Directives but also nonviolent.

I offer individual, triadic (with a peer partner), and group experiential consultation. For group consultation, you may choose to book with a group of your colleagues, or to enroll in a consultation group that is currently running.

  • Consultation can be focused on case consultation, or experiential consultation.

Case consultation is an opportunity to discuss your SP work with your clients and deepen your capacity to offer SP in a way that feels authentic, creative, supple, and well matched to those specific clients’ needs.

I offer individual and group case consultation. You may choose to book with a group of your colleagues, or to enroll in a consultation group that is currently running.
